Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) - Master Technician

Program Description

The Automotive Technology program is a full day, seven (7) month program of study with sessions beginning in July 2022, February 2023, and November 2023.  The 840-hour class meets Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 1:30PM.

The program provides detailed instruction in the fundamentals and skills needed to inspect, diagnose, repair and adjust automotive vehicles. The Automotive program has high standards of training and placement.  After major competencies have been acquired, trainees may be give the opportunity to receive on-the-job training.  Trainees will apply for a job, interview, and if accepted, will be transferred to on-the-job status.  They will still be required to complete all course work as assigned by the instructor.  

ASE Certification:

Students will be given the opportunity and be encouraged to take the Automotive Service Excellence (ACE) exams. ASE certification is recognized nationwide as a standard of excellence in the automotive industry. ASE’s mission is to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals. Four (4) ASE certification tests and an OSHA-30 test are included as part of the program. However, ASE certification is only granted after successful completion of the required tests and additional related work experience.

A complete set of tools is provided and included in the total program cost.


Program Completion and Certification:

Students who successfully complete all requirements for completion and certification will receive a Ben Franklin Career Center Certificate of Completion noting the hours of training received.

  • Tire Changing Machine
  • Tire Balancer 
  • Benchtop Brake Lathe
  • 4-wheel alignment
  • OSHA 30

Program Certificate Requirements:

“C” or better Overall Grade Average

90% or better attendance throughout the course time period


Program Entrance Requirements:

  • Ben Franklin Career Center Adult Application

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • 18 Years of Age Prior to the Start of the Program

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Test Certificate (GED, TASC , etc.)

  • Proof of Insurance or signed Health Insurance Waiver

  • Successful completion of both Areas of the Entrance Exam (Reading and Mathematics)

  • Payment Arrangements and Program Related Deposit Fees

  • Able to lift 50 pounds
