Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) - Master Technician 2013

Program Description

The Automotive Technology program is a seven (7) month program that provides detailed instruction in the fundamentals and skills needed to inspect, diagnose, repair and adjust automotive vehicles. The Automotive program has high standards of training and placement. Students enrolled in the program participate in the EDGE program, which provides community college credit after completion of the Garnet program.

Classes are arranged on a daily basis, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Individual class schedules will vary. New students begin class July 2022, February 2023, and October 2023.  


Program Entrance Requirements:

  • Ben Franklin Career Center Adult Application

  • Valid Driver’s License/Government Issued Identification

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Test Certificate (GED, TASC , etc.)

  • Students must take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) before being admitted to the program. Students must meet a minimum score in order to be admitted. 

  • Successful Instructor Interview

  • Payment Arrangements

  • Able to lift 50 pounds

A complete set of tools is provided and included in the total program cost.

“C” or better Overall Grade Average

No more than Seven (7) Days of Absences  

Job Internships:

After major competencies have been acquired, trainees may be given the opportunity to receive on-the-job training. Trainees will apply for a job, interview, and if accepted, will be transferred to on-the-job status. They will be required to complete all course work as assigned by the instructors.

ASE Certification:

Students are given the opportunity and encouraged to take the ASE exams. ASE certification is recognized nationwide as a standard of excellence for the automotive industry. ASE's mission is to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals.
