Electrical Technician

Program Description

The secondary Electrical program follow the Modern Residential and Modern Commercial Wiring curriculum which correlates with the NOCTI for Electrical Construction Technology.  First-year students complete Electrical Trades I and II and Residential Wiring and National Electrical Code.  Second-year students will complete Electrical Trades III and IV and Industrial and Commercial Wiring and Blueprint Reading for Electricians.  

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the Journeyman Electrical exam administered by the West Virginia State Fire Marshall.  Students can also earn an embedded math credit and will have the opportunity to earn OSHA 10 certification.

This class is a blend of Electrical Theory and hands on lab.

Students will have opportunities to compete at SkillsUSA and become a part of the National Technical Honors Society.

Program Certificate Requirements

1. Complete 1080 hours of vocational education

2. Attain an overall average of "B" or better in the required courses

3. No more than 6 absences in 1 year

4. Earn OSHA 10 certification

5. Pass a minimum of 2 documented drug screenings

6. Score at or above the Workforce Entry-level cut score on the NOCTI Performance test

Estimated Cost

Upon completion of the program, there is a $25 fee to take the Journeyman Electrician exam.
